Keep reading for some ideas on how to get your blood pumping from the comfort of your living room or from the great outdoors.
Home Workout Exercises
Start on a flat surface with your feet shoulder-width apart. Lower yourself into a squat. Then, jump to your left as far as you can while keeping a front-facing position. As you jump, land on your left foot and keep your right foot off the floor. Repeat the movement with your right foot. Do twenty repetitions, and repeat three times.
Lower yourself onto all fours as if you were about to start crawling. Tuck your left knee in towards your chest. Make sure you keep your foot flexed. Starting from your folded position, quickly kick up behind you with your left leg. Do not straighten your leg as you kick and keep the tension in your foot. Keep your core tight and hips tucked under to avoid arching your back on the extension. Repeat with your other leg. Do twenty reps each side, and complete three sets.
Single-Leg Glute Bridges
Start on a flat surface. Lie down with your stomach facing upwards. Bend your knees, keeping your feet flat on the floor. Lift up your left leg. Straighten it and point your toes towards the ceiling. Now, raise your hips off the floor, squeezing your glutes at the top, and lower them back down again. Avoid arching your lower back. Repeat fifteen times before switching to your right leg. Do three sets on each side.
Forward to Reverse Lunges
Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart. Stepping forward with your right foot, lower yourself into a forward lunge. Make sure that both of your knees form right angles. You want your right thigh to be parallel to the floor and your left shin to be hovering slightly above it. Now, return to your starting position for a brief second by stepping back with your right foot. However, instead of stopping there, maintain your weight on your left foot and step back with your right foot into a reverse lunge. Your left foot should be in front of you, and both knees should form right angles. Repeat ten times and then switch sides. Do three sets on each side.
Finish off this workout with a light jog or brisk walk around the apartment community grounds. If you choose to workout in your apartment, remember to be cognizant of your neighbors.
